Friday Favorites

I don’t know about you, but I am more than ready for the weekend. I wanted to share some of the things I’m loving right now:

Teenage Dream – Katy Perry

I cannot get enough of this song. She certainly has another hit on her hands. I’m sure it will get played out in a few weeks, but for right now I love it.

Jersey Shore

The gang is back together again in Miami and it is better than ever. This show is such a guilty pleasure of mine. GTL, baby!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Peach Petal

The formula on this gloss is great, especially since it’s a drugstore brand. I believe this shade was originally limited edition, but I have been seeing it with the regular colors lately. It also has an SPF of 15 which makes it perfect for summer. The shade is a nude/light peach and perfect for pairing with a dramatic eye or for wearing on minimal makeup days.

Fla-Vor-Ice Light

I remember these freezer pops very well as a kid and was happy to see that they make a light version. These have been the perfect light summer snack with the dog days of summer.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Pink & Green Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Pink & Green Thursday hosted by Trish at Pink Preppy Lilly Lover. If you have not been to her blog, you will not be disappointed. The posts she puts together are beautiful and make me forget about reality for a little while.

First up, remember this Pink & Green Thursday post? Lis spotted this and delivered. She sent this adorable market tote to me with my monogram for my birthday. I’ve been meaning to post about it and though it would fit perfectly into the Pink & Green Thursday theme.

These napkins are something I also originally saw on Lis’ blog. I finally spotted them at Pier 1 Imports and got a set for myself.

How great would these napkins be with a Lilly Key Lime Mojito? There is still plenty of summer left to enjoy one of these cocktails.

The Stella & Dot Fall collection has been released and I’m really loving these Ladybug Stud Earrings. They’re so ladylike and pretty.

It is definitely time to start getting organized and I really need to get myself one of these pretty Lilly Pulitzer 18-month planners. Now, if I could only decide between these two patterns...

I fell in love with the turquoise top that Ali wore on The Bachelorette when Frank ended things. I found it, but it was sold out in that color. Planet Blue does have this pretty pink one though. I think this would look great with some white shorts and sandals. You could do your swimsuit underneath or a tank top/cami.

Weekend recap

Friday, I ran a few errands and made a quick trip to the mall. I got a new lipstick and lipgloss at Chanel and some pretty scents from Bath & Body Works. My mom came over later on and we watched Dateline and So You Think You Can Dance that I had saved on the DVR. We decided to go to dinner at Nifty Fifty’s and then we both headed our separate ways. I came home, caught up on reading blogs and waited for a call from Geof to pick him up from the airport (he was in NE all week for work). I brought the dogs in the car to surprise him and you should have seen their reaction when they saw him outside of baggage claim waiting for us. I’ve never seen two dogs more happy to see someone.

Saturday, Geof and I headed up to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets and I got some things from the Cosmetics Company Store. They have a great selection of discontinued MAC products and other brands such as Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, etc. I got some things from MAC and the Bronze Goddess perfume from Estee Lauder. It smells amazing and is perfect for summer.

After the outlets, Geof and I went to Max & Erma’s for lunch. I had never been there before and it was delicious. I had some tortilla soup and a yummy cheeseburger. We also got the most delicious chocolate chip cookies warm from the oven. After lunch, we headed to the movies to see Inception. This movie was fantastic and so original. It definitely lived up to the hype and made you think. I highly recommend this one.

Sunday, Geof and I headed to Pinocchio’s for lunch and then visited the beer garden and picked out our own six pack to take home. I tried a bottle of Abita Purple Haze and it is a new favorite. I will definitely be getting it again. After Pinocchio’s, we went to the pet store to pet puppies and then headed to Blockbuster to get a movie. We got a movie called Dread and it was horrible. It is a horror flick that is part of the annual After Dark Horrorfest. Jackson Rathbone (Jasper from Twilight) was in it but that couldn’t salvage the ridiculousness of this flick.

Sunday night was spent watching all our favorite HBO shows. It was a relaxing weekend and great to have Geof back home. I hope that you all had a good one too!

Nail polish review

I’ve been quite the frugalista lately and have been slowly discovering the fantastic products offered at the local drugstore. One of the things I’ve been most impressed with is the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish. This polish isn’t necessarily cheap for the drugstore, but if you have a coupon or it’s on special, it is quite the bargain. The formula is also fantastic and it’s saving me from going to the nail salon for a manicure.

I got this in the shade Choco-Latte and it looks like a pinky nude on my nails. It is pretty opaque and really only took 2 coats. My favorite thing about this is the brush. It was very easy to control. The difference between this and normal brushes is that it’s wide and flat, where normal brushes are more rounded and slim. The flatness of the brush coupled with the width made it easy to apply with only a few stokes.

This formula claims to be a base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, color and top coat all-in-one. I will have to wear it longer to see if it actually strengthens my nails. As for the base and topcoat, I think that I will wear a base next time to help it smooth on a little better.

Hopefully this review was helpful and I can do more like them in the future.

This was not a sponsored post. I purchased the nail polish myself and formed my own opinion about the product.

Weekend recap

The last few days before the weekend were pretty craptastic, so I was ready for a somewhat quiet weekend. Friday, I did some major house cleaning and was glad to get it done. We got Chinese takeout for dinner which is something I have to be in the mood for and probably only eat once or twice a year. We stayed in and caught up on some shows.

Saturday, Kelly came down to my house to meet me so that we could head off to Kristen’s bridal shower at her mom’s house. Everything was so nice and her mom is like a chef. The food was fantastic and the company great. Kristen looked so pretty and happy. I cannot wait until the wedding in September.

Pretty cupcakes from the shower

After the shower, Kelly came back here for a little bit and then Geof and I stayed in and relaxed the rest of the night. We ended up watching All About Steve OnDemand. Now I see why it won a few razzie awards. Even with Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper, I thought it was a horrible movie.

Sunday, I got up early and took the dogs for a nice long walk. I decided to stay unplugged all day with minimal phone and no computer. It definitely did me good. I watched Purple Rain (love Prince, love this movie), Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion and caught up on So You Think You Can Dance. I also snuck in a late afternoon nap. It was such a lazy day and I needed it.

Six Flags birthday fun!

First of all, thank you so much for all of the sweet birthday wishes! You all know how to make a girl smile.

Yesterday, I spent my birthday like any inner 14-year old would. My friend Kristen and I headed to Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor. We got up bright and early, grabbed a quick breakfast, went to the grocery store in search of Coke cans with buy 1 admission, get 1 free (with success) and headed to the parks.

We started off at Six Flags and went straight for Kingda Ka, which is literally the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world. It speeds to 128 mph and goes 456 feet into the sky. I honestly felt like I was on a rocket blasting into outer space. We loved it and I’m so glad I finally got to go on this ride. After Kingda Ka, we went on The Twister and then headed to Superman: Ultimate Flight.

The day was getting hot and it was mid-afternoon at this point, so we drove across the way to Hurricane Harbor. The first thing we did was get on the new Tornado. This is one insane water ride. It is 60-feet tall and 132-feet long. You shoot down a huge drop into a funnel and slide through super fast. It was so much fun and we loved every second of it. After this we went on The Big Bambu slide and then took it easy in the lazy river for a really long time. We pretty much closed the park, grabbed some snacks in the car and then headed back for Great Adventure.

Tornado

We went on Houdini’s Great Escape which is so fun and kind of a haunted house, optical illusion type ride and then went on Batman. Next, we headed to The Dark Knight and then went on Nitro and closed the night with Bizzaro.

It seriously was a great day and a birthday that I will not forget for a long time to come. Kristen and I had so many laughs, a ton of fun and a lot of screams. I can’t wait to do it again!

Weekend recap

Friday was kind of a blur as I was on the laptop working most of the night. My mom came over and Geof made dinner for us. We watched some television and it was a quiet night.

Saturday, Geof and I ran a few errands and then came back home so that I could get some work done. We both took a late afternoon nap and then got ready for to head out. We went to the mall, Target and then headed to Outback for dinner. Afterwards we came back home and starting catching up on Pretty Little Liars.

Sunday, I got to sleep in and relaxed most of the afternoon. My mom came over and took Geof and I to The Melting Pot to celebrate both of our birthday’s since Geof and I are so close together. Dinner was delicious as always and we left completely stuffed.

The Melting Pot modeled to look like Independence Hall in Philadelphia

Dinner and dessert. The kiwi lime shrimp was fantastic!

Had to take a pic of the cute pink and green fondue forks!

Delicious Dragon Berry Mojito

Once we got back home, Geof and my mom gave me my gifts and I loved everything. It turns out that Geof surprised both my mom and I. He got us tickets to see Lady Gaga when she comes in September (yes my mom loves her too). It will be a late gift for me and an early gift for my mom (since her birthday is in October). He is coming too and I cannot wait to go. We got club box seats, so we will be seeing Gaga in style! I also got the Murfee Scarf I wanted from Lilly Pulitzer and the pretty ring from American Eagle that I love. My mom gave me some birthday money and I’m going to use it to get some other things on my list. The best part of today was honestly just getting to spend time with my mom and Geof. I really am lucky to have such a great mom that is always so supportive a loving husband like Geof.

Pretty new Lilly scarf and ring and me modeling my new scarf!

I think this is what I'll use my b'day money on

After the birthday celebration, Geof and I spent the night with the dogs and watched the latest episode of True Blood. It ended on such a cliffhanger!

ABC’s of me

The lovely Lis at Beach Bum & Baby did this fun tag and I decided to play along.

I also wanted to apologize for being absent from blogging most of the week. Work is crazy right now and I hope to catch up with everyone this weekend. It seems as though I’ve been saying that a lot lately, but I swear it’s the truth.

A- My AIR CONDITIONER is set on: A nice and cool 72. I’m almost scared to see our electric bill for June because it has been over 90 degrees most of the month.

B- My BEDROOM theme is:
We really don’t have a theme and our bedroom isn’t all that big. It is fairly neutral. I like to say that the walls are kind of mauve (Geof calls them pink) with neutral bedding and furniture. When we get a bigger house I want to do our master bedroom all chocolate brown and blue.

C- The CAR in the driveway is: Right now it’s a Nissan Sentra from Enterprise because my Nissan Altima is still in the shop from the hail damage. Geof drives a Honda Civic

D- My DESK looks: Like my dining room table. That is pretty much where things get sorted and bills get paid.

E- The EXACT time I wake up daily is: Around 8:15. I work from home most of the time, so I just have to head downstairs and start my day.

F- The FIRST thing I wash in the shower is: My hair and it has always been that way

G- My GARAGE is filled with: Since our garage got converted into an extra room and is Geof’s “man cave”, we use the back laundry room for storage. There is honestly still a lot of unopened gifts from my bridal shower because my kitchen is so small. We also have some junk down there. It’s probably time to clean it out again.

H- My HOUSE is: Okay. It is our first house and it’s a townhouse with 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. We’ve been here a little over 3 years and I honestly cannot wait to get a bigger house. I am proud that it is something to call my own though.

I- If you peeked INSIDE my bedroom you'd see: Nothing out of the ordinary. Bed, nightstand, dresser, TV, etc.

J- My favorite JUICE is: I’m not big on juice, but I would have to say orange juice from time to time. I love diet iced tea though!

K- The best part of my KITCHEN is: I guess it’s fine overall. I really like our refrigerator and stove. We replaced both of those appliances when we moved in. I like our cabinets too. I just wish it was bigger and that we had more counter space.

L- The LAST person who visited my home was: My mom on Tuesday night.

M- The last piece of MAIL for me was: A sweet note from Kate at Nautical By Nature

N- My NEIGHBORS think I'm: Friendly. We are pretty close with our neighbors next door and the rest we have casual conversations with from time to time.

O- If you OPENED my fridge you'd see: Not a lot. We need to go food shopping. I think there is some leftover pizza in there and lots of diet soda.

P- My last house PARTY was: Too long ago to remember. Probably last summer after Geof’s fantasy football draft. It was also very impromptu and everyone just kind of ended up back at our house.

Q- A QUICK meal I like to fix is: Tomato soup and grilled cheese.

R- My favorite ROOM of the house is: The living room. It is where everyone can relax, talk and unwind.

S- The SHAMPOO brand I use is: Redken Blonde Glam Shampoo and Conditioner. My friend who works at a salon got this for me and I absolutely love it.

T- My largest TELEVISION is: 42”. I will never forget getting this TV either. It was a Black Friday that we camped out at Circuit City (when they were still in business).

U- UNDER my bed you will find: Nothing much. Maybe some dust bunnies and a renegade sock or two.

V- The last time I VACUUMED was: Last weekend. We have laminate floor on the first floor of our house that needs to be dust mopped about every other day. The dogs don’t go upstairs, so it doesn’t get that bad.

W- Looking out my WINDOW I see: My garden that is pretty much dead from the excessive heat and the grass that now looks like hay.

X- I wish I had X-TRA: Money…time…I could go on and on. I think most people wish for these things, right?

Y- My YARD is: Really only out front. I have a small garden (like I mentioned before) that I get mums and pumpkins for in the fall and daffodils, lilies and pansies grow in the spring. We also have a huge front yard that is shared with the 7 townhomes. The kids and dogs play out there.

Z- ZZZZZZZ My bedtime is: My goal is usually to get to bed by 11, but some nights I don’t fall asleep until midnight or later.

I hope I didn’t bore you to death with this! Please let me know if you decide to do it too and have a great weekend!!
