Cherry on Top!

Blog awards can get a little out of control, but every now and then a special one comes along and this falls into that category.

The lovely Leeann at Join the Gossip presented me the Cherry on Top blog award. I urge you all to run over to her blog and say “hello”. She is one of my favorite chicks and I’m not just saying that. We’ve formed a real friendship over the last year and for that, I’m thankful.

List 3 Things You Love About Yourself:
1) I love easily and I’m forgiving. This is something I love about myself because I’m a genuinely nice person. Sometimes this can also be seen as a fault depending on the situation.
2) That I’m good at figure skating and still love doing it even after 20 years. I started when I was 12.
3) Passion. When I like something, I really like it. I think that stirs up an excitement that should always be inside of you.

Post A Picture You Love:

There is nothing in this world like a Hawaiian sunset. This photo is from our last night in Hawaii and it was honestly the best vacation I’ve ever been on. From time spent with Geof, to all our adventures and splashing around in the warm Hawaiian waters. We have so many wonderful memories that I’ll never forget.

Pass on to 5 other blogs that you just adore!

Super sweet!

Steph over at Thoughts From Cali gifted me with the Irresistibly Sweet Award. Being that it’s the month of love, I find this award to be perfect. Thanks Steph for thinking of me!

The rules are that I list 5 sinful indulgences. This is an easy one.

1. Manicures and pedicures. Getting pampered at the nail salon is so relaxing and a definite indulgence. I walk out feeling like a million bucks.

2. A trip to Starbucks. I don’t go often, but when I do, it’s a treat. My beverage of choice is a skinny cinnamon dolce latte.

3. Reality TV. Shows like The Bachelor, Jersey Shore and Real Housewives top the list.

4. Cupcakes. In moderation of course!

5. Lipgloss. A swipe of the perfect pink gloss and I’m ready to go.

I’m going to pass this along to 3 more Irresistibly Sweet Bloggers:

Leeann @ Join The Gossip
Gwen @ Handbag Obsessed
Meghan @ The Perfect Compilation Tape

Happy Friday!

Award time

I was given “The Prom Queen” blog award from my friend Leeann at Join The Gossip. The two of us actually connected over some of my concert posts, as she is an avid music lover too. We found out that we had a ton in common and the rest is history. Now if only she didn’t live in CA and me PA ;) Her blog really is fabulous. She shares everything from fashion to travel and is an overall great person.

I am supposed to hand this award onto 10 other “Prom Queens”. You’re all right there in my book, but being someone who plays by the rules, I shall pass this onto the following ladies (I also thought I would share a little bit about them and their blogs rather than just making a list):

1. Handbag Obsessed – Great mother, great taste, great friend. She has a beautiful daughter, is a kickboxing Queen and has excellent taste in handbags.
2. Southern Champagne Wishes – Anna is a lawyer from the South with great style and taste. She is so kind and had the cutest dog named Oscar.
3. Bon Bon Rose Girls – Kristin and Megan are fashionable and fabulous. Their blog is a must read. They also have a great Rosebud Network for bloggers supporting other bloggers.
4. Chapters of our Life – Annie is the cutest and is going to be a bride very soon. She shares fun stories and is one of the nicest ladies out there.
5. Living in the Moment – Brittany is a wonderful writer and so relatable. She recently moved to SC to be with her husband who joined the military and I have a lot of respect for her.
6. Vynuss Vision – Vy is soon to be married and recently bought a house with her fiancĂ©. She is very crafty and such a sweetheart.
7. Saving the Best for Last…(fingers crossed) – MCW is a hip NYC chick. I live vicariously through her. She has the best stories and is also a really great person.
8. Sweet Tea Diaries – Angela is so kind and an excellent baker. You have to see the cupcake cookies she recently made!
9. The Perfect Compilation Tape – Meghan is a teacher from Chicago and always has the best stories and posts about living in the city and life with her husband.
10. Just a Happy Housewife – Kathie always has something interesting or funny on her blog. I’ve “known” her for a long time and she has always been a great blog friend to me.

I was also given the You're Going Places Award from Ashley at Sweet Southern Prep. She is a lovely blogger with a sense of style and has 2 beautiful girls. Her posts range from life with her family to travel and Southern hospitality and manners. It is always a good read and makes me want to live the Sweet Southern life!

In 10 years I hope to have 2 children, my health and happiness. I think that is probably what most people wish for, right? I hope to have a bigger house too!

For this one, I am also supposed to tag 10 people, but I’m copping out on this one. Please let me know if you decide to do this. I’d love to read where you see yourself in 10 years.

I’d like to thank the Academy...

It’s that time again. Time for me to catch up on awards that have been so graciously passed along to me. This is going to be one giant post and you may learn more about me than you ever wanted to know, or skip this post altogether (I wouldn’t blame you).

The always adorable BLC from The Company She Keeps gave me the Beautiful Blogger Award and the lovely Ashley from Sweet Southern Prep gave me the Versatile Blogger Award. I grouped these two together since the rules are the same:

Rules:
1. Say 7 interesting things about yourself
2. Pass it on to 7 more bloggers

7 Interesting Things:
1. I’m a lefty when it comes to writing, but play most sports, eat, cut, etc. with my right hand.
2. I’m an only child, but I have a huge family because of my mom’s siblings. We also have three sets of twins in the family and one set of triplets. My aunt and uncle have more than a full house every holiday.
3. I could be part fish, because I love being in the water or by the water. I don’t care if it’s the ocean, pool or lake. I think this has to do with the fact that I’m a summer baby (Cancer to be exact).
4. I used to think I’d live in PA forever, but lately I’ve been feeling like I could get out of here. Ideally I’d love to live in the South or in California (just a little afraid of Earthquakes).
5. I may or may not have originally wanted a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel because Charlotte from Sex in the City had one. Later, I read about the breed and Geof and I realized these were the perfect pets for us.
6. This August I will have had my car for 11 years. I’m still on the fence if this is something to be proud of or depressed about…ha!
7. My dream would be to own my own business that is super girly. Something along the lines of a cupcake shop or boutique.

I will pass both of these awards onto the following bloggers:
1. Join The Gossip
2. Just A Happy Housewife
3. Vynuss Vision
4. The Pink Chick
5. BonBon Rose
6. The Juice is worth the squeeze
7. living well

I was also given the Honest Scrap Award by my sweet friend Vy at Vynuss Vision. This is one that I have actually done before, so if you’re interested in reading it, you can do that here.

Next up is the Master of Karate and Friendship Award from Trish at Pink Preppy Lilly Lover. She is so wonderful and I look forward to our double date next weekend! This award also cracks me up, because it’s from the show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (which is absolutely hysterical).

Rules
1. List 6 things you are the master in.
2. Pass it on to 6 bloggers you think are masters at friendship, and make blogging so awesome.

6 Things I am the master in:
1. Ice skating. I took lessons for many years and then started coaching in my late teens. I still teach lessons during the winter months and I love every minute of it.
2. Fun. Ask my friends. I try to be the life of the party and ensure that everyone is having a good time. Seeing my friends smile makes me smile.
3. Talking. I just asked Geof what I’m the master at and this was his response. No comment.
4. Dancing. I’ve been known to shake my tail feather a time or two. Seriously though. I took dance up until I started skating and was on dance team in high school while I was skating. It has always been a passion of mine.
5. Baking. When I have the time, I love to bake and try new recipes. The past year or so, I’ve gotten more into cooking. It must have something to do with me getting married or something ;)
6. Blogging. I love this blog and the friendships and fun things of learned from reading other peoples blogs.

I now pass this onto:
1. Handbag Obsessed
2. Biology Gal
3. Beach Bum & Baby
4. ETMC
5. The Non-Review
6. Classy in Philadelphia

I was also given the “Every Blog Needs A Little Bling” award from Kathie at Just a Happy Housewife. Please pay her a visit if you haven’t already. She is always mixing it up and it one of the nicest bloggers I know.

Last, but not least, I was awarded the I Love Your Blog Award from Brittany Ann at Living in the Moment. This is an honor coming from her. She can make you laugh, make you cry and above all write. She is not only super nice, but also very intelligent and she knows her stuff.

Rules:
1. List 10 Things I Love (I obviously love Geof, friends, family, dogs…I’m listing some random things for fun).
2. Pass it onto 10 other blogs I love

10 Things I Love:
1. Diet coke – this is my coffee. I’ll take any diet beverage.
2. A good handbag – Coach, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade. They’re my favorites.
3. Chapstick – I couldn’t live without the stuff and probably put it on at least 5 times a day.
4. Gossip/Fashion Magazines – they’re so fun to flip through on a lazy afternoon.
5. Hoodies and sweatpants – I love coming home after a long day and getting into comfy clothes.
6. Music – certain songs bring back memories or spark a certain emotion. I couldn’t live without good music.
7. Lipgloss – Dior, Chanel, Clinique. A swipe of any of those 3 will bring a smile to my face.
8. Reality TV – The Bachelor, Real Housewives of Orange County, The Apprentice, Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s…love them all.
9. Pizza – probably the one food I’ll never get tired of.
10. Flip Flops – The best feeling is when you know that spring is here for good and you can break out the flippers.

I now pass this onto the following bloggers:
1. Peeptoe Pumps and Pearls
2. Sweet Tea Diaries
3. Social Climbers
4. Same Sweet Girl: Memoir of a Southern Belle
5. Pink Preppy Lilly Lover
6. Nautical By Nature
7. My Chihuahua Bites!
8. Simplicity in Baltimore
9. The Adventures of Katie and Josh
10. Chapters of our Life

Wow…that was a lot to post and a lot of linking. If you made it all the way through this post, then you deserve some other sort of award! I hope that everyone has a great weekend!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The award above is appropriately named for my story of the night. My mom came over to keep me company and decided to surprise me and bring Happy (her black lab) along with her. Here is a quick background on good, old Happy. When I was 19, I was at the pet store and saw this adorable puppy that was 3 months old. They said they had named him Crazy. He looked like he really wanted a home, so I did what any irrational teenager that thinks they’re an adult would do and bought him against my mom’s wishes. When I walked in the door back at home, my mother’s exact words were, (before she saw him from the other room) “you better not have brought that….awwww” (that’s when she walked into the room and instantly fell in love). He was supposed to be my dog, but became our dog. When I moved out Happy stayed and he is now very much my mom’s dog. He is still doing well and is almost 12.

Onto the night’s story; Happy got here tonight and was being harassed by my dogs and was all out of sorts. Within 5 minutes, he had an accident on the floor. Great. We cleaned that up and then I went to feed my dogs. The next thing I hear is “oh no, Happy got sick”. Good lord. Okay, let’s clean it up. Finally I thought it was all well and good until his power tail came along and knocked my mom’s cup of tea all over the coffee table and living room floor. Poor guy couldn’t catch a break. Here is the sweetie just relaxing after his rough night.

Pour some sugar on me

I was tagged and given the glorious Sugar Doll Award by my lovely blogging friends, BLC @ The Company She Keeps, Emma @ Tales of All American Girl and The Preppy Pink and Green Puppy. BLC is a doll and I've been reading her blog for awhile. She got engaged not too long ago. Head on over and say hello! Emma has a blog that is so fun and I recently found her. She lets her readers know about new musical artists and all sorts of other fun things. The PP&GP is another blog that I recently found. She is so nice and we like to gush about how much we love our Cavalier's!

Thank you ladies for thinking of me and giving me this award! I love all of your blogs and am glad to call you my friends.

Here are the rules:
1. I have to list 10 interesting facts about myself (this list is more random than interesting)
2. Pass it on to 10 more bloggers

1. I’m going to admit something really embarrassing. When Titanic was in the theater, I went to see it a total of 7 times. With a running time of 3 hours and 17 minutes, that means that I spent almost an entire 24 hour day in total watching this movie. What can I say, other than I was a teenager and there wasn’t much else to do.

2. I have an addiction to diet drinks. Diet Pepsi and diet green tea are my faves.

3. I’ve had my car for 10 years as of this past August and I plan on keeping it as long as I can. I’m going for 200,000 miles. I love my Nissan!

4. Geof and I agreed that our recent trip to Hawaii was even better than our honeymoon. Sad, but true!

5. I love making lists for things (anything) and then checking it off. It makes me feel so accomplished.

6. My family has 3 sets of twins and one set of triplets in it. I don’t think I would mind twins, but triplets…wow. They’re all my first and second cousins. It just boggles my mind.

7. I will never and I mean ever get a tattoo. I think they’re fine for other people, but just not my thing.

8. I can’t stand ridiculous FB updates. Some are a novel, tmi or things that most people couldn’t care less about. I have friend named Tim that always leaves the best things on his page. Here is a recent one: Tim “thinks facebook should rename the "people you may know" feature, to "people that you know, but deliberately choose not to be friends with." It's the cyber equivalent of being at a party, and the host awkwardly shoving you in the direction of someone you dislike...trying to force you to be friends. Facebook is quickly turning into a forced Venn diagram of friendships... no good.”.

9. Each Christmas, without fail I watch A Christmas Story and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I’ve done this for a long as I can remember and it never gets old.

10. I have an obsession with accessories. Bags, scarves and sunglasses top the list!

I'm cheating a little on this and passing it along to anyone that hasn't done it yet. I thought it was fun to think of some random's. If you do it, let me know so that I can read your list.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was also given the Friendly Blogger Award from Kathie @ My Net Finds. She has been a bloggy friend of mine for awhile now and is so sweet. I always love checking in on her blog and seeing new internet finds that she has posted, along with yummy recipes. She has something for everyone!

Thank you, Kathie!

Award catch-up & wonderful blog friends

Brittany at Living in the Moment gifted me with the Kreativ Blogger award. Thank you so much! Brittany is hysterical and her blog is always entertaining. She has some of the best stories. She’s a teacher, but I think she should consider a career in writing as well. I wish I had half of her creativity.

With this award, I must list seven things about myself that you may not have known.

1. I write with my left hand, but do most other things with my right. I cut, eat, ice skate, bowl, bat, play tennis, etc. like a righty! It is strange.

2. Singing is not my forte, but when I was about 22 and out with a friend we were talking to the drummer we knew in the band that was playing. The song, “Lady Marmalade” was hot at the time and I was kind of just singing and dancing around while they were talking. Dan (the drummer) told me that I had a great voice (trust me, I don’t) and says that I’m getting up on stage to sing a song for their next set. I don’t know if I had one too many or what came over me that night, but I got up on stage and sang, “Love Shack” with the band. I’m sure it was a horrible rendition, but I felt like a rock star for 5 minutes.

3. My grandmother used to let me get away with everything. My aunt had a St. Bernard that she kept at my grandma’s house. He was kept in a pen and had a dog house that was specifically made for him. He had it good. I was always told not to go into the pen because they were worried I would get hurt by this 100+ pound dog. I used to climb the fence and let him knock me over and lick me to death. They always had to come and fish me out of there. I miss Bruno. He was the sweetest!

Here I am, caught in the act! My head is half cut off, but you get the idea.

4. One day, I would like to own a small cottage by the beach and own a boat. I just love being around water.

5. My mom tells me that I’ve never really been shy. This is evidenced by my first dance recital when I was about 4. I remember all the other little girls were crying and I was looking at them like they were crazy. My mom said that I asked her later what was wrong with them. I guess I didn’t get that they had stage fright.

6. I’m so ready for fall and everything that comes along with it. I cannot wait to take a trip to the local orchard, go on a haunted hayride and watch the leaves start changing colors.

7. I’m not and don’t think I’ll ever be a morning person. The noise made from an alarm clock going off is quite possibly my least favorite sound in the world.

I’m cheating a little here, but I have seen this award circulated a ton. I am passing it along to anyone that has not received it yet.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also received the Dragon’s Loyalty Award from Anna @ Southern Champagne Wishes and Kathie @ My Net Finds. These ladies are such good blog friends of mine and I’m a loyal reader of both their blogs.

Anna has great style, tells some hilarious stories and leaves the sweetest comments. She also posts about the shoes that she wears each day and I seriously love all of them. I know we would be great friends in real life. She is also a lawyer, which I think is fabulous.

Kathie is such a sweetheart and another good friend. Her blog is so fun and you never know what you will find. She posts about her life and interesting things that she finds on the internet. She has the cutest cat, Pumpkin!

I would like to pass this along to some of my friends & loyal commenter’s:

Lis @ Lis Loves
Gwen @ Confessions of a Control Freak
Jill @ Peeptoe Pumps and Pearls
Erin @ The Queen of Clearance
Taryn @ Mr. Jones & Me
Angela @ Sweet Tea Diaries

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last, but not least, I would like to extend a big thank you to Jill at Peeptoe Pumps and Pearls. She is the epitome of a Southern Belle and is one of the sweetest people you will “meet” in the blog world. We were talking about a recipe that I recently made and she had asked if I would like to read her Paula Deen book. I took her up on it and not only did she send me the book, but she also sent the sweetest card and a surprise.

Look at that cute wrapping! I wonder what’s inside?

Adorable pink & green stationary. My 2 favorite colors!

Thank you so much, Jill! You are so kind for thinking of me!!

Personality Traits Meme Award & Jules is a Gem!

My wonderful bloggy friend Taryn at Mr. Jones & Me tagged for the Premium Meme Award. If you have not visited her blog yet, I hope that you will soon. She is engaged and soon to be married in a few months!

This award requires that I list 7 traits about myself and then pass the award to 7 other bloggers who deserve recognition for the personality they share through their blog. So, all about me...in 7 personality traits:

1. Funny. I’m the one always making light of things and cracking jokes. If I’m down about something I will give myself a day here and there to deal, but I always try to pick myself right back up and smile again.

2. Loyal. When you’re a friend of mine, you’re a friend for life (unless you cross me!). I have been burned in the past for being loyal to a fault and giving people a ton of chances. Those days are over, but for the close friends I have, I would truly do anything for them.

3. Caring. I consider myself a good listener and try to be the friend that can be there to give advice if it’s asked for or just listen when someone needs a shoulder to lean on.

4. Outgoing. Hubby says that I will talk to anyone and he is probably right. I get this from my father. I love meeting new people and making everyone comfortable. I’m the friend that used to try to bring separate groups of buddies together. It never worked out so well, but I gave it a shot!

5. Detailed. I like to be prepared and I’m a list maker. I want things to be right the first time and I don’t like messes. I guess this could also be a little OCD too ;) I don’t like cups lying around or dishes in the sink…that sort of thing.

6. Genuine. I’m real 100% of the time. I don’t try to mold to what someone else deems perfect and I’m always myself. The only pitfall of this is that sometimes I share too much and wear my heart on my sleeve. I think that this can make me vulnerable at times.

7. Perceptive. If you met me in person you might think I can be a little silly at times, but honestly I pick up on others actions and words very well and feel that this makes me a good judge of character. If I’m meeting someone for the first time, I can usually tell in 5 minutes if they’re someone I would want to get to know better (I’ve been wrong on this a few times!!).

That’s it! I now tag anyone that wants to play!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was also given the “You’re A Gem” award from Kathie at My Net Finds. Kathie has been a good friend to me from when she started her blog and I love catching up on her life and reading about interesting things that she finds on the internet.

This award is for the special bloggers who take the time to not only read my posts, but also leave comments, respond to comments, form blog friendships with and support others, answer blogger questions, etc.....the ones who are a real "gem" in the bloggy world. The bloggy world wouldn't be the same without you! The only rule for this award is that to accept it, display it proudly on your blog for all the bloggy world to see your greatness and/or pass it on to other bloggers as you see fit. So, to the following bloggers, I say "you're a gem" to me and here is your award!

I am passing this onto the following bloggers:

Southern Champagne Wishes
Confessions of a Control Freak

The Queen of Clearance
Stuttering Shell

Tales of a Short Southern Momma
