Weekend recap

As you know, Friday was a bad day and I won’t get into that again. Thank you to everyone that left me a sweet comment on my post. It made me feel much better.

Saturday, we worked around the house and ran errands. I had baked cupcakes for Geof’s birthday on Thursday and we celebrated in the evening with those and some homemade tacos. I also managed to paint my nails later in the evening.

Wet n Wild's Wave of Enchantment

Sunday, Geof and I had a date day and went to see Transformers 3 in 3D but not before a quick stop at Ulta (I couldn’t resist). The movie was definitely more of dude flick and not for me. I’ll give credit for the special effects, but it was way too long at almost 2.5 hours.

After the movies, we went to McKenzie’s Brew House for dinner. We’d never been there before and it was a great choice because the food was delicious. We had a Fontina Fondue for an appetizer and Geof got one of the McKenzie Wit beers they brew in-house. For dinner, Geof got a deal that couldn’t be beat. He got his beer, a salad, filet mignon crowned with beer battered onion rings and a baked potato for $20. I know what I’m getting next time! I was boring and got meatloaf, but it was so good. Comfort food like that soothes the soul.

Monday was spent relaxing around the house and I unfortunately had work that needed to be done, so it was a very quiet 4th. The most excitement was watching Sara Bareilles play at the Philadelphia Welcome America Celebration. As much as I want to go down there and see the talent live each year, it’s not worth it and I’d much rather just watch from my living room in HD.

I hope you all had a fun, long weekend!

Six Flags birthday fun!

First of all, thank you so much for all of the sweet birthday wishes! You all know how to make a girl smile.

Yesterday, I spent my birthday like any inner 14-year old would. My friend Kristen and I headed to Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor. We got up bright and early, grabbed a quick breakfast, went to the grocery store in search of Coke cans with buy 1 admission, get 1 free (with success) and headed to the parks.

We started off at Six Flags and went straight for Kingda Ka, which is literally the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world. It speeds to 128 mph and goes 456 feet into the sky. I honestly felt like I was on a rocket blasting into outer space. We loved it and I’m so glad I finally got to go on this ride. After Kingda Ka, we went on The Twister and then headed to Superman: Ultimate Flight.

The day was getting hot and it was mid-afternoon at this point, so we drove across the way to Hurricane Harbor. The first thing we did was get on the new Tornado. This is one insane water ride. It is 60-feet tall and 132-feet long. You shoot down a huge drop into a funnel and slide through super fast. It was so much fun and we loved every second of it. After this we went on The Big Bambu slide and then took it easy in the lazy river for a really long time. We pretty much closed the park, grabbed some snacks in the car and then headed back for Great Adventure.

We went on Houdini’s Great Escape which is so fun and kind of a haunted house, optical illusion type ride and then went on Batman. Next, we headed to The Dark Knight and then went on Nitro and closed the night with Bizzaro.

It seriously was a great day and a birthday that I will not forget for a long time to come. Kristen and I had so many laughs, a ton of fun and a lot of screams. I can’t wait to do it again!

Weekend recap

Friday was kind of a blur as I was on the laptop working most of the night. My mom came over and Geof made dinner for us. We watched some television and it was a quiet night.

Saturday, Geof and I ran a few errands and then came back home so that I could get some work done. We both took a late afternoon nap and then got ready for to head out. We went to the mall, Target and then headed to Outback for dinner. Afterwards we came back home and starting catching up on Pretty Little Liars.

Sunday, I got to sleep in and relaxed most of the afternoon. My mom came over and took Geof and I to The Melting Pot to celebrate both of our birthday’s since Geof and I are so close together. Dinner was delicious as always and we left completely stuffed.

Delicious Dragon Berry Mojito

Once we got back home, Geof and my mom gave me my gifts and I loved everything. It turns out that Geof surprised both my mom and I. He got us tickets to see Lady Gaga when she comes in September (yes my mom loves her too). It will be a late gift for me and an early gift for my mom (since her birthday is in October). He is coming too and I cannot wait to go. We got club box seats, so we will be seeing Gaga in style! I also got the Murfee Scarf I wanted from Lilly Pulitzer and the pretty ring from American Eagle that I love. My mom gave me some birthday money and I’m going to use it to get some other things on my list. The best part of today was honestly just getting to spend time with my mom and Geof. I really am lucky to have such a great mom that is always so supportive a loving husband like Geof.

I think this is what I'll use my b'day money on

After the birthday celebration, Geof and I spent the night with the dogs and watched the latest episode of True Blood. It ended on such a cliffhanger!

Birthday Wish List & Happy Birthday Hubby

My birthday is coming up on July 12th and I made a fun Polyvore of all the things on my wish list. I had to share!

Birthday weekend recap

I had an overall decent weekend, but ended up working both days and nights from home. I’m not trying to have a pity party over here or anything, but it's really starting to wear on me. I was up until 1:30am last night and that was my birthday. Not a great way to end the day if you ask me.

I did get to go out on Friday night with Kelly and we went to our usual summer spot…The Deck. I ran into a bunch of people that I know and the weather was perfect. They had an 80’s theme going and we heard some great music that brought back fun memories.

Saturday, I worked on and off and went to the pool for about an hour with Kelly and Geof. Saturday night we went out and met up with some of our other friends. We didn’t stay out for long.

Sunday, Geof and I met up with my mom and her boyfriend for lunch. We decided to go to Olive Garden because it would be fast, since I had work to do and Geof had to travel to Virginia. I received some fabulous gifts and it was nice to be around my family. Later that afternoon, I went to the pool and relaxed for a little. It was kind of nice to clear my head for a few hours. After that, I met up with Kelly and we grabbed a bite to eat and then went back to my house to watch True Blood. I had to say goodbye as soon as it was over, since I had work to do.

I also wanted to mention that Gwen sent me the sweetest birthday surprise! I went to the mailbox on Saturday and inside was the cutest OPI summer nail polish set, a citrus lotion and pink nail file. I thought it was so sweet of her to think of me and I appreciate it very much. I swear you ladies in blog-land are the best! I don’t mean that because of getting cards or presents, but it’s just the thought and sweet wishes that count. I have friends in real life that don’t even remember my birthday, so it means a lot that people I have never met care enough to stop by and wish me a happy day.

Last but not least, the gifts! Geof surprised me in a major way and got me the Kooba Blake bag that I wanted. The leather is so buttery soft and the color is perfect. It is also huge and I cannot wait to start using it. I found out that is was named after Blake Lively and being that I’m a huge Gossip Girl fan, I thought that was kind of fun. He also got me the Dior Lip Glow that I wanted and the book, Pretty in Plaid.

Cupcakes!

Geof brought me home cupcakes as an early birthday present and it really made my day. He went to a favorite place of mine, called Cupcakes Gourmet. All they do is bake cupcakes and they do it well. They have so many mouth-watering flavors.

He got us zesty lime, lovely lemon, red velvet, chocolate and vanilla. Yum!

Weekend recap

I had to work all day on Friday, which was a huge bummer. It would have been nice to just go to the pool and relax. I’ll get the day back at some point, I suppose. We also had neighbors partying since Wednesday night and it lasted until Saturday night. It got old Friday and then really got bad on Saturday when they were setting off fireworks close to our house. When we took the dogs out, we found what was left of a roman candlestick in our yard and we were not pleased.

Onto the positive; last Tuesday was Geof’s birthday, so we saved the celebration for this weekend. Friday night, some of our friends came over and we had a few cocktails here and then headed out for the evening. We had a nice time and hubby really enjoyed himself, which was the most important thing to me.

I also received a package on Friday and wasn’t expecting anything, so I was surprised to see that it was for me. It turns out that my sweet friend, Lis sent me the most adorable tote bag and had my monogram embroidered on it in pink! I love it so much and it is absolutely perfect. It was an early birthday gift and so very thoughtful of her.

Cute bag!

Saturday, I gave Geof his gifts and had a cake for him. I got him the Kindle since he travels a lot and likes to read. He loved it and was so excited. It always makes me feel good when I know I did well on the gift selection. Saturday evening I took him out for a birthday dinner at an Indian restaurant that we wanted to try. The food was really good and the place wasn’t crowded considering it was the 4th of July. After dinner, we walked around town and talked. The weather was perfect and we had a nice night with just the two of us.

Sunday, I wasn’t feeling so hot and we just laid low. Our friend Kelly came by for a little while and we caught up. Later that night, Geof and I took the dogs to the park and wore them out. We came back home, relaxed and had a quiet night.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! What did you do?

This is the cake hubby got for my 30th birthday last year!

My 31st birthday is right around the corner – July 12th to be exact. Since I’m such a list maker, I thought it would be fun to make a wish list of all the things I would love for my birthday. Some are reasonable requests and some are not! I thought I would list them all for the fun of it...a girl can dream, right?
