Phillies win the World Series!

This is an amazing moment for Philadelphia. The 2008 Philadelphia Phillies have just won the World Series!! I am so excited! I hear fireworks going off outside as I write this.

Melrose Place Spin-Off

Yahoo reported that due to the success of the remake for the show 90210, that The CW may do the same for Melrose Place. Here is a link to the article: http://omg.yahoo.com/news/melrose-place-spin-off-in-the-works/14752

I loved this show when I was younger and would absolutely watch the new show in the 2009-2010 fall season.
It's so funny to look at this picture and see "Tom" and "Bree" from Desperate Housewives. I remember what a crazy person Marcia Cross played on Melrose.

Two down, Two to go

I have been reading the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and I just finished book two entitled “New Moon”. I am not what you would call a book person, but I have been completely sucked in. I bought the first book (“Twilight) to read here and there on my honeymoon and needless to say I couldn’t put it down.

I already have the third book (“Eclipse”) and will hopefully start that tonight. The last and final book is “Breaking Dawn”. They get bigger as they go on, so these might take me a little longer to get through.

The movie for the first book comes out in theatres November 21st and I cannot wait! I have seen the trailer and it looks terrific.

Caramel Apple Pops

I have one more reason why I love autumn and halloween so much...Tootsie Roll Caramel Apple Pops! These little babies are delicious and are only available (from what I've seen) until Halloween. If you like caramel and green apple flavor, then you have to try them. They're also guilt-free compared with a lot of other candy out there. 1 pop = 60 calories, 0.5g fat, 15g carbs, 0g fiber.

Don't want to be a jinx but...

The Phillies are on the cusp of winning their 2nd World Series in history. The team has a ton of heart and the city is electric right now. I have never seen so much excitement and it is truly amazing to be a fan right now.

I was thinking today about how I went to the home opener back in April. Who knew that they would make it this far? That day was special because we were picked to go onto the field and participate in a parade and cheer on the team for a successful 2008 season. It was so amazing to see all the players, give them a high five and wish them well. Here are some pictures I took from that day:

Lazy Sunday

Today was the first day that I have done absolutely nothing is as long as I can remember. I layed on the couch with the dogs and caught up on some tv (Grey's, Lipstick Jungle and Biggest Loser). The dogs were lazy too. I needed this day very bad. Although the big day is over, there are many post-wedding things to get done. I also teach ice skating classes and everything is starting to catch up with me. I do feel much better though and the Phillies are winning, so all is well.

Here are some cute pics of the dogs that I had to share:

Cute and compact

I saw this on Sephora's website and had to get it. I always need a basic lip gloss and perfume for my bag. This is a 2-in-1 that should be perfect. I think it is super cute too!

Carnival!

Last night we (hubby, our friend Cory and I) went to a carnival in our neighborhood and I felt like a kid again. It was a nice, mild, fall evening and it was a so much fun! We rode the bumper cars, himalaya, pirate ship and ate some good (bad for you) carnival food. Here are some pics:

Identity Crisis!

It’s been almost 3 weeks since the wedding and today I went to start the name change process. It is hard changing something that is part of who you are and have been your entire life, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it sooner than I think. I went to the Social Security office, the DMV and the Government Center to get my Passport changed. Besides the line at the DMV, it wasn’t so bad. Thank god I brought a book.

I am going to need to start practicing my new John Hancock!

Girls Night Out – Cork

Last night I had the pleasure of going out to dinner with my wonderful group of girlfriends! It is restaurant week in South Jersey and we wanted to take advantage of the specials. We went to Cork in Westmont, NJ. Everything was delicious and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Here is what I had: Autumn Sangria (as a pre-dinner cocktail), Roasted Pumpkin Bisque Soup, Three Cheese Fondue, Buffalo & Wild Boar Meatloaf and Risotto Rice Pudding. YUM! I left the restaurant feeling super full.

The service was good and I would definitely go back. The only complaint I had was that I wanted to get home to watch the Phils’ game!

I think I may attempt to make some homemade Pumpkin Soup very soon.

World Series - Phillies vs. Devil Rays

I am a passionate Philadelphia Phillies fan and I am elated that they have made it to the World Series for the first time since 1993. I was in high school back then and I remember what a heartbreak it was to the city when they lost.

Tonight kicks off Game #1 and I am rooting for the Phillies all the way. GO PHILLIES!!

The Bates Motel at Arasapha Farms

Last Saturday night, my husband and our friends went to The Bates Motel at Arasapha Farms in Glen Mills. The night as a whole was a lot of fun and very scary. They have put a lot more money into the attractions and have many special effects that were not there in previous years.

Here is how the night went:

We arrived around 10:00 pm and sat in traffic on 352 for over an hour. The parking lot was shut down because it was so crowded, so we waited on the shoulder until they opened it back up. Once we got there the line to get tickets was about 45 minutes long. My best advice would be to purchase tickets in advance so you can avoid that line altogether. The next and final line was for the hayride and that lasted about an hour and a half.

We did all 3 attractions while we were there. The first was the “Haunted Hayride”. This was a ton of fun and had many surprises along the trail. I am one of those people that gets legitimately scared at these things, but it makes for a good time. The next was the “Haunted Corn Maze” and this was my favorite attraction of the night. You basically walk through a path in a cornfield and come across some creepy and scary sights. Some of the props and actors look so realistic you would swear that it’s real. The last attraction was “The Bates Motel”. From the outside it looks like an old, run-down barn – but inside it is full of twists and turns and people coming out of nowhere to give you a good scare.

If you’re into this kind of thing, I would say that it is definitely worth the trip. It was rated one of America’s scariest haunts by The Travel Channel.

Ahhh…Autumn...

There is something so wonderful about the Fall. I don’t know if it’s the clean crisp air, the leaves changing or the apples and the pumpkins. Something about the season gets me every year. It is so cozy and puts me in a great mood. I definitely appreciate it more as an adult than I did as a child and look forward to it every year.

This year was a little different for me because my wedding was at the beginning of the month and everything leading up to it was so hectic that I wasn’t enjoying much of the season yet. Now that I’m settled and back from my honeymoon, I am loving every minute of it.

With two weekends left in the month I definitely want to go to our local orchard for fruit picking and a hayride. I would also like to go to another haunted house.

Hello & Welcome

Hello,

Welcome to my blog! I promised myself that after my wedding I would start a blog as a hobby. I think it is something that will be fun and something I can look back on to recall special times and happy memories.

Thanks for checking it out!
