Birthday Wish List

This is the cake hubby got for my 30th birthday last year!

My 31st birthday is right around the corner – July 12th to be exact. Since I’m such a list maker, I thought it would be fun to make a wish list of all the things I would love for my birthday. Some are reasonable requests and some are not! I thought I would list them all for the fun of it...a girl can dream, right?

Kooba Blake Leather Shoulder Bag in Patent Pink

I really love everything about this bag

Lilly Pulitzer Beachy Perfume

I love the scent of this and this it would be so nice to have for summer

Weekend recap and thank you

First, I want to welcome and thank all of the new followers to my blog. I’m going to be making the rounds and visiting your blogs as well. It has been a busy few days, but I always try to keep up with those that stop by. I love meeting new people on here and I am really excited to say, “Hello” to you. Please don’t forget to enter my 200th post giveaway. You have until Tuesday at midnight!

I had such a nice weekend. I’ve been working way too many hours and needed a few days of being unplugged to get myself together. I must say that it felt good. Friday, I had the day off and my friend Jessica came to spend the weekend with us. We had such a nice time together. We went to get manicures and pedicures, had some lunch at Nifty Fifty’s and then went to the pool. It was nice to see the sun, since it has been raining constantly.

Friday night, our friend Kelly came over and we got ready for a girls’ night out. The weather was awesome, so we headed to The Deck. We were outside all night and had a blast. We danced, talked to some fun people and just really enjoyed ourselves.

Saturday, Geof, Jessica and I went to run some errands, grabbed lunch and then headed to the pool. It was another beautiful day and the water felt awesome….not too hot, not too cold. After the pool, we got some movies and came back to our house and had a movie night. We watched Confessions of a Shopaholic and The Uninvited. Confessions wasn’t very good (in my opinion) and I enjoyed the book much more. The Uninvited was surprisingly good and very creepy.

Today, we had to drop Geof off at the train in Delaware and afterwards we had lunch at Olive Garden and then did some fun, tax-free shopping while in DE. We came back here and I had to get ready for dinner with my mom and her boyfriend. We went to a diner in New Jersey and it was really good. It was so fresh and everything was homemade. I had the best chicken orzo soup and some delicious rice pudding. After dinner, I went back to my mom’s for a little while and she has 2 different birds that have built nests in her yard. They’re so cute! I came back home, watched some Michael Jackson videos (I’ve been watching them on and off all weekend) and spent some time with the dogs.

Tomorrow, it is back to work and I need to figure out what is wrong with my car. It’s in the shop and I’m hoping it is nothing serious. I had gotten it back on Thursday night from getting the brakes done. On Friday, it started to overheat and I smelled anti-freeze. I took it right back to the shop that night and now I'm just waiting to hear what’s wrong.

Sad day

Michael Jackson has passed away. I am still in shock. I didn’t think I would see this day for a very long time. When I think of music from my childhood, he is the first person that comes to mind. He was an icon and changed the way we look at music. His life was filled with many ups and downs, but I will choose to remember the positive contributions he made and he’ll be sorely missed.

May he rest in peace - August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009

So You Think You Can Dance

First of all, I cannot believe that Phillip split his pants tonight…so funny! Mary Murphy thought is was hysterical too and started with her cackling. Whenever she does that or screams, I can’t help but laugh a little myself. Did you ever notice how much she says, “Holy Smokes”?

I’ve talked about how much I love this show before, but I really look forward to watching it. It makes me want to run down to the basement and bust a move. Seriously though, I took 10 years of dance and my memories from those days will always stay with me.

For fun, here is a pic I found of my jazz recital from 1989 (I was 10!). I am in the 2nd row, 3rd from the right. This is so 80's!

As far as early favorites go, I will pick my top 4. For the ladies, I love Kayla and Janette (I really like Melissa too). For the boys, I love Evan and Brandon. Who are some of your favorites?

Favorite four

Favorite couple

I look forward to seeing what the choreographers come up with each week. Tonight, I really liked Mia Michaels’ Contemporary routine (I wonder what Randi’s husband thinks of the butt grabbing…ha). I also liked Tyce Diorio’s Broadway routine and the 2nd Hip Hop routine by Dave Scott. After tonight, I think that Karla and Jonathan are in danger.

Phillies game

The weather held out and we were able to make it for the businesspersons special to see the Phillies take on the Toronto Blue Jays. I can’t believe it actually stopped raining long enough to make it through an entire game. It was a crazy day, because around the 6th inning, we looked across the field and heard all of this yelling. We just thought that a wave was starting. It turns out turns there was a huge fight between the fans. It was completely ridiculous and I will never understand fan on fan crime. I also felt horrible because earlier in the game a foul ball came into the section next to us and hit a little kid in the head. Ouch! The last insane thing that happened was this guy (he could not have been a day over 20) was taken out of the bathroom because apparently he passed out from being overly intoxicated. What a mess.

The view from our seats Us - please excuse the lack of makeup...yikes!

I got some of my favorite Chickie’s & Pete’s Crab Fries and they were delicious. I’m sure I could make them at home, but something about having them at the ballpark makes them taste so good. If you ever visit Philadelphia, I highly recommend trying them.

Even though the Phillies lost, it was still an exciting game because the score went back and forth the entire time. It was nice to take in a game during the afternoon and enjoy some time with Geof. I’ve been working so much lately that those times are few and far between.

Please stay tuned, because I have almost reached 200 posts. You know what that means….a giveaway!

Husband of the year

Geof had the day off and got up bright and early to log on and secure Britney Spears tickets for me! She recently added additional cities to her Circus tour and I’m so glad that Philadelphia was one of them. I am beyond excited, as I’ve always wanted to see her live. I think she is a wonderful performer and I will be in the house on August 30th.

Abazias

Abazias is a diamond and luxury jewelry manufacturer that I discovered and wanted to share with my readers. Whether you’re soon-to-be engaged, planning a wedding or already married – Abazias has something for everyone. They carry a large selection of over 150,000 loose diamonds to choose from. One of the features I love on their site is the ability to choose the 4 C’s (cut, color, clarity and carat) from a sliding scale to find something that suits your budget and taste. They also carry rare cuts, such as the Asscher diamond, which is known for its beauty and brilliance.

Once you pick the diamond of your choice, they have many beautiful settings that you can have your new gem mounted on. If you prefer, you can have it shipped directly to your door and customize the setting yourself to make a unique piece that is sure to be treasured for years to come.

In addition to engagement rings, Abazias carries a vast selection of wedding bands, fashion rings, diamond studs, and watches. They can cater to any of your jewelry needs.

When you make a purchase from Abazias, you know that you’re buying with confidence. They offer a toll-free hotline to speak with a diamond specialist, as well as secure shopping, free shipping, and a “no questions asked” 10-day money back guarantee.

I know that I wouldn’t mind having a pair of diamond studs for our anniversary that I just picked out on their site. From browsing I’ve done online as well as in brick & mortar stores, I haven’t found a better price for the quality and size of the diamonds. Take a peek and as they say in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days…”Frost yourself”!

Weekend recap

Friday, I was pretty beat after an incredibly long and stressful work week. Geof and I decided to have a nice, quiet date night. We started by going out to dinner and having pizza at Pinocchio’s. Their pies are so thin, crispy and delicious. I love it! Whenever I go there it brings back memories of high school. That was the hangout after Friday night football games.

After dinner we ran to Best Buy, where I got some new headphones for my iPod. I have little ears and the pair that comes with the iPod hurts me. I finally have a soft and comfortable pair. We also bought He’s Just Not That Into You. After Best Buy, we ran to Blockbuster to get some movies for Saturday. We came home and watched, He’s Just Not That Into You. I saw it in the theater when it was out, but Geof didn’t. He liked the movie, but thought it was long.

Saturday, I slept in embarrassingly late. We won’t even go there on how late it was. I am definitely more of a night person. We took care of chores around the house and that night watched some more movies. We ended up watching Still Waiting (the straight to DVD follow-up to Waiting) and Rest Stop 2 (also straight to DVD). Still Waiting was good for a few laughs, but nowhere near as funny as the original. Rest Stop 2 was actually good and pretty scary. I needed some mindless entertainment this weekend.

Sunday, we went to the pool and the water is finally warming up. I acted like a 10-year old and went off the diving board and down slide a ton of times. We played some volleyball and called it a day. Once we came home, our friend Jess stopped by and the three of us watched some TV together.

True Blood – Season 2 – Episode 1…OMG!

Warning: Spoliers ahead

I am so excited that True Blood is back! How good was the first episode? So many storylines have just been set up and I love it. I laughed out loud when that Maryann chick said, “Nobody needed towels” and smacked that guy to the floor. I cannot wait to find out what her deal is. She is so strange and mysterious. I’m glad to see that Lafayette is alive, but who knows for how long. The scenes for next week look interesting with him asking to be turned into a vampire. I kind of think they will. When Eric showed up in the basement (with foils in his hair…haha), I was shocked. I also thought that the love scene with Sookie and Bill was hot. I heard they’re together in real life, so I’m sure it doesn’t come too hard for them.

My friend Jess was over when we were watching it and I think I have converted her into a fan!

Friday random ramblings

1. I have worked at least 55 hours this week and I’m beat. I’m hoping to spend some quality time with hubby this weekend. He just got back from San Francisco.

2. I watched He’s Just Not That Into You tonight with Geof. I saw it with my friend Kelly in the theater and it was kind of fun to watch with hubby to see a guy’s reaction to the awkward parts.

3. Even though she was kind of trashy in the movie, I think Scarlett Johansson is absolutely beautiful.

4. After watching this week’s episodes of So You Think You Can Dance, I have a feeling it is going to be a great season. I loved the Bollywood routine!

5. I am bummed I didn’t get to see No Doubt last night. I bet it was awesome.

6. But, I heard that Britney added tour dates in the fall and I am crossing my fingers I can score some tickets to that.

7. I like the way my makeup looks now that I am getting a tan (another reason to love summer!). I feel so pale and ghastly in the winter.

8. I don’t want it to rain this weekend. It has been so on and off lately.

Top 5 Summer Fun Things

I saw this on Gwen’s blog and though I would play along. Here goes:

1. The pool

If you have been reading my weekend recaps, you know that I can be found here at least one day out of every weekend. It really is my little oasis where I can unwind from a long week and relax. We’re friendly with a lot of the other members and even play volleyball every Tuesday night during the summer.

2. BBQ’s

We love having people over for fun cookouts during the summer months. It can be something planned or something we throw together at the last minute. The important thing is that it’s always a good time.

3. Flip flops

One of the best feelings is when it finally gets warm enough to break out the flip flops and sandals. I live in both during the summer.

4. Amusement/Water Parks

I thoroughly enjoy going to Six Flags when it gets nice out. Bring on the rollercoaster’s and waterslides. I have my dad to thank for being such a daredevil. He used to practically force me on scary rides as a child and I love them now.

5. The beach

I’m lucky that I live close to several beaches. Each summer we try to do at least a weekend away. My beach of choice is North Wildwood, NJ. They have a little of everything - the beach, the boardwalk, bars and amusement parks. I’ve been going there ever since I was little.

What are some of your summer favorites?
