Award catch-up & wonderful blog friends

Brittany at Living in the Moment gifted me with the Kreativ Blogger award. Thank you so much! Brittany is hysterical and her blog is always entertaining. She has some of the best stories. She’s a teacher, but I think she should consider a career in writing as well. I wish I had half of her creativity.

With this award, I must list seven things about myself that you may not have known.

1. I write with my left hand, but do most other things with my right. I cut, eat, ice skate, bowl, bat, play tennis, etc. like a righty! It is strange.

2. Singing is not my forte, but when I was about 22 and out with a friend we were talking to the drummer we knew in the band that was playing. The song, “Lady Marmalade” was hot at the time and I was kind of just singing and dancing around while they were talking. Dan (the drummer) told me that I had a great voice (trust me, I don’t) and says that I’m getting up on stage to sing a song for their next set. I don’t know if I had one too many or what came over me that night, but I got up on stage and sang, “Love Shack” with the band. I’m sure it was a horrible rendition, but I felt like a rock star for 5 minutes.

3. My grandmother used to let me get away with everything. My aunt had a St. Bernard that she kept at my grandma’s house. He was kept in a pen and had a dog house that was specifically made for him. He had it good. I was always told not to go into the pen because they were worried I would get hurt by this 100+ pound dog. I used to climb the fence and let him knock me over and lick me to death. They always had to come and fish me out of there. I miss Bruno. He was the sweetest!

Here I am, caught in the act! My head is half cut off, but you get the idea.

4. One day, I would like to own a small cottage by the beach and own a boat. I just love being around water.

5. My mom tells me that I’ve never really been shy. This is evidenced by my first dance recital when I was about 4. I remember all the other little girls were crying and I was looking at them like they were crazy. My mom said that I asked her later what was wrong with them. I guess I didn’t get that they had stage fright.

6. I’m so ready for fall and everything that comes along with it. I cannot wait to take a trip to the local orchard, go on a haunted hayride and watch the leaves start changing colors.

7. I’m not and don’t think I’ll ever be a morning person. The noise made from an alarm clock going off is quite possibly my least favorite sound in the world.

I’m cheating a little here, but I have seen this award circulated a ton. I am passing it along to anyone that has not received it yet.

I also received the Dragon’s Loyalty Award from Anna @ Southern Champagne Wishes and Kathie @ My Net Finds. These ladies are such good blog friends of mine and I’m a loyal reader of both their blogs.

Anna has great style, tells some hilarious stories and leaves the sweetest comments. She also posts about the shoes that she wears each day and I seriously love all of them. I know we would be great friends in real life. She is also a lawyer, which I think is fabulous.

Kathie is such a sweetheart and another good friend. Her blog is so fun and you never know what you will find. She posts about her life and interesting things that she finds on the internet. She has the cutest cat, Pumpkin!

I would like to pass this along to some of my friends & loyal commenter’s:

Lis @ Lis Loves
Gwen @ Confessions of a Control Freak
Jill @ Peeptoe Pumps and Pearls
Erin @ The Queen of Clearance
Taryn @ Mr. Jones & Me
Angela @ Sweet Tea Diaries

Last, but not least, I would like to extend a big thank you to Jill at Peeptoe Pumps and Pearls. She is the epitome of a Southern Belle and is one of the sweetest people you will “meet” in the blog world. We were talking about a recipe that I recently made and she had asked if I would like to read her Paula Deen book. I took her up on it and not only did she send me the book, but she also sent the sweetest card and a surprise.

Look at that cute wrapping! I wonder what’s inside?

Adorable pink & green stationary. My 2 favorite colors!

Thank you so much, Jill! You are so kind for thinking of me!!

I loved your seven truths - I am the complete opposite of you and hate the water! I have this unbelievable fear of drowning.

Thank you for the award! I love commenting on your posts :)

Jill really is amazing - I hope you get to meet her one day!

Congratulations on your awards! Thank you for those sweet comments - they really made my day! I love reading your blog and I know that we would be great IRL friends, too!

Loved reading your 7 things! I am literally the world's worst singer, but have been known to get up and sing karaoke if I've had a couple. I'm sure though, that unlike me, you totally rocked that song out!

I think that is the cutest picture ever of you and Bruno! I love St. Bernards and he looks like a sweetie. I was just like you as a child, I'd walk right up to a giant dog and not be a bit afraid.

Also, I'm right there with you on not being a morning person. I could stay up all night fairly easily, but even if I go to bed at a decent hour, I do not like my alarm clock and I just want 5 more minutes of sleep (about 10 times)!

And I would love to live at or near the beach, too. It's so relaxing.

I hope you have a great weekend!
