Friday, Geof and I took the afternoon off and spent the day together. With his travel schedule, we haven’t seen much of each other lately. It was freezing out, but we decided that we were going to go and cut down our Christmas tree. First, we ran some errands and then had a late lunch at Tom Jones. It is one of our favorite diners and they have delicious food. After lunch, we went to Linvilla to get our tree. This has become an annual tradition for the past 3 years and we both love it. We got on the hayride out to the fields and went of the hunt for the perfect tree. Sometimes it can be a daunting task, considering they’re so many to choose from.
View from the hayride. That is a lot of Christmas trees!
We walked around the tree farm and after much deliberation, we finally found the one, and Geof cut it down. We went back to the main area and toasted some marshmallows by the fire and drank some warm apple cider. We went over to the Farmer’s Market and browsed around and got a gingerbread man as a treat and a pretty ornament for our new tree! Once we left, we got about halfway home and I got a sick feeling that they didn’t drill a hole in the bottom of the tree. We pulled off on the side of the road and my suspicions were correct. We had to drive back and get it taken care of.
Just a little too small
Tada! Just right.
Geof is ready to saw it down
He is really proud of himself
Hauling it back
Toasting marshmallows
Treats!
Once we got home, we invited my mom over to decorate our Christmas tree. I’ll do a post on the finished product tomorrow!
Saturday, we had our annual holiday skating party at the rink and it was a nice time. The kids had a blast and ate lots of yummy treats. One of the boys I teach was being chased by about 5 of the girls in one of my other classes. He asked me why they kept chasing him and I told him it was probably because they like him. It was very funny!

After skating, Geof and I stopped by the Philly Pretzel Factory to get some warm soft pretzels to take home. We got back to the house and watched Wrong Turn 2. I never saw the first one, but I asked Geof if it was supposed to be a comedy horror movie, because it was completely ridiculous. I didn’t even make it all the way through and ended up falling asleep on the couch. I later watched the rest of the train wreck that is Jersey Shore and caught up on the Real Housewives of Orange County. Later, Geof and I watched SNL and called it a night. I thought Taylor Lautner was very funny, especially in his monologue.
Two thumbs down on this one
Sunday, I ran out to do some Christmas shopping and finally figured out what to get for Geof. I’d tell you, but he reads this blog. The cat will be out of the bag on Christmas Day! Guys can be so hard to buy for. Once I came home, my mom came over to visit and Geof made us a taco dinner for the Eagles game.

Looks like such a great weekend! I love the pics of y'all picking out the tree. I really wish we had a place to do that here. I go to a nice church nearby that has a tree lot - but it's so not the same as cutting down your own!
I can't wait to see pics of your tree - I bet it looks great!
And I missed the train wreck (J.S.) last week - luckily I KNOW mtv will replay it 1,000 times this week! :)
Hope you have a great week!! xoxo
What fun weekend! I can't wait to see your decorated Christmas tree! :)
I love the pics of you next to the trees. It's like Goldilocks trying to find the perfect bed!
I know I've told you before, but I love reading about your weekends! Mine are so boring by comparison. How fun to get to cut down your own tree and I love that you documented each step - so cute! I love farmer's markets and ours isn't nearly as cool as the one you went to. I love the ornament that you bought - my favorite ones have some kind of sparkle. The skating party sounds like a lot of fun, too, although I'm not very graceful on skates. Y'all look so cute at the party, too!
I cannot wait to see pictures of the finished tree and I have got to check out Jersey Shore. Everyone keeps talking about it and I feel like I'm completely missing out!
What fun to cut down your own tree! Wow! Sounds like you had quite the fabulous time!
How nice that you were able to take the day off. I hope you post pics of the tree soon! I still haven't gotten mine!
Sounds like such a fun, winter weekend! Thank you for your sweet comment & thoughts. You are such a sweet gal ;)
<3 Bon
What an eventful weekend! I love the tree cutting pics, adorable!
Glad you had a great weekend! I give you credit for getting a real tree! It's too much maintenance for me and the clean up was always a nightmare when I was a kid! Can't wait for pics of the tree! :)
What a wonderful weekend!!
Fun! We always had real trees growing up, but we never went to an actual farm and cut one down. My husband and his family always did so he would be totally jealous of yours. I'm still making him deal with my artificial pre-lit one. Haha. He hates it!
Love that you cut down your own tree - I've always wanted to do that. We just have a fake one, but one day, I definitely want to chop one!!
Glad you had a nice cozy weekend!!
Such a cute tree and looks like you both had a great time! :)
It looks like you guys had so much fun picking the perfect tree. That's such a nice tradition! It's incredibly sweet that you teach ice skating and I am in awe of your coordination! I would bust my butt about a hundred times if I even attempted skating!
