Cheap or Steep

I’m going to attempt a new series where I find less expensive versions of more expensive items. I’m all about a bargain these days and feel like I’m keeping a little secret when I find something comparable to its’ more expensive counterpart. Let’s see how long I can keep this going!

This week is the battle of the nail polish.

Jesse's Girl High Intensity Nail Color in Confetti

vs.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Nail Polish in Scrangie

I picked up a bottle of the Jesse's Girl polish in Confetti from Rite Aid for $2.99. The color looked very similar in the bottle to the Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie polish that costs $18.00 a bottle.

I’m an instant fan. The color applies like a dream. At first it was a little streaky, but I realized it was only because you have to build up each coat. I used 3 coats in total and it looks more opaque in person than it does in these photos. It wasn’t goopy and dried fairly fast.

I don’t own the Scrangie, but from the swatches I looked at online, I’d say Jesse's Girl Confetti comes pretty darn close. The Scrangie looks more opaque, but I’d rather work with the Jesse's Girl and save myself $15.01. You can also put down a black base to deepen the shade, but I prefer it as is.

All in all, the color is so unique and I think it works any time of the year if you’re looking for something different on your nails. It’s a bluish/purple duochrome and looks different depending on how the light hits it.

For me, cheap wins this round!

Achieving high end looks for cheap is a fun challenge, in my opinion. (And a necessity what with a teacher's salary). Looking forward to your series!

I like! I've heard great things about Jessie's Girl, mainly that the pigments are a MAC knock off.

Jules! What a fun series! I am so excited to "tune in" to see what you are finding. I'll let you know if I find anything and pass it your way. I love stuff like this.

I need to find a knock off for the new Fekkai Essential Shea collection because I am in LOVE and it is SO $$ for a tiny bottle!

And I'll have to try out these nail polishes! I've never heard of them before.

What a beautiful color! It's a lot lighter than I expected, a pleasant surprise though.

Thanks for posting! I like the idea of Cheap of Steep :)
