Today, Geof and I celebrate 11 months as husband and wife. I can honestly say that I don’t know where the time has gone and I can’t believe that next month we’ll be celebrating our first year as a married couple.
Over the past few months I’ve told stories from the wedding and our proposal story. I thought that this month I would tell the story of how we met. Here goes:
I had been in a few serious relationships throughout my 20’s and got sick of meeting the same guys out and about. I was ready to meet a good guy and decided along with another friend just for the fun of it to put a personal ad online. I thought nothing would come of it, but I’m pretty outgoing and figured why not? I received some emails from random people and then one from Geof came along. He was a guy 2 years older than me who had recently moved from Florida to Pennsylvania for graduate school. I saw photos and read his bio and thought is was too good to be true. We exchanged emails for about a month and then finally got phone numbers and talked a couple times before finally deciding to meet up.
The first time we met, we went to a local bar and had some food and a few drinks. There was an instant connection. I remember the day well, because I had just gotten my hair highlighted and cut and he told me how pretty it was. I made a joke basically saying, “Don’t get used to it looking like this, I just left the salon”. Conversation was easy and we had a lot of laughs that night.
I heard from him again the day after our meet-up date and he invited me to a Phillies game a few days later. The day after the game, we spent the afternoon together. After that, I knew it was something special and starting bringing him around my friends and getting introduced to his friends. Everyone got along well and we became inseparable. It became somewhat official that we were an item after about a month. The rest is history!
