Weekend recap

Friday, Kristen, Kelly and I went to The Deck. We had perfect weather all weekend and Friday was no exception. We thought it wouldn’t be crowded and that everyone would be down the shore. When we pulled into the parking lot, it was a different story and ended up being packed. It was a great time and we dancing and chatted the night away. There were a ton of familiar faces and it was nice catching up with everyone.

Saturday, Geof and I decided to have a date day. We wanted Indian for lunch, but they were closed so we ended up going to Winner’s Circle and had some burgers. It was still good, but not exactly what I was in the mood for. We also had to rush because we were running late for the movies. We went to see District 9 and I was blown away by how good it was. Science Fiction isn’t typically my kind of movie, but this one was great and the story was very original. After that, we saw Halloween 2. I have to give this one a big thumbs down. It was ridiculous and far fetched. I think they should have stopped with the first remake of the original.

Sunday, Geof, his friend Dan and I went to my aunt & uncle’s for a BBQ. They throw the best parties during the warmer months and it was great to catch up with the family. There must have been 30 people at their house with enough food to feed an army. My mom was there too and we had a nice time. I got to see my little cousin who just turned 1 a few weeks ago. I can’t believe she is walking already. Time flies! She runs all over the place and my aunt and uncle have a pool, so you really need to keep an eye on her. They also have a Koi pond, so I picked her up and we watched the fish for awhile. Later, the guys and I played the beanbag game and then called it a day. That game brings me back to when I was little and spent a lot of time in the summer at my grandparent’s river house. We played every weekend. I learned on Sunday that practice makes perfect and that I was much better as a kid than an adult! After the party, Geof and I came home and relaxed for the rest of the evening.

I saw district 9 over the weekend, too and thought the same exact thing. Was not expecting a movie like that! The plot was definitely unique - alien movies needed a makeover & i'd say district 9 gave them one :)

I wanted to see the new Halloween movie as well, but I think I'll skip it after reading your review and just watch one of the older ones instead! I wondered about District 9, so I'm glad that it was good.

I love Koi ponds! How fun! Sounds like a great party at your aunt and uncle's house!

Sounds like a fun weekend!! I love summer BBQ's with friends and family!! Oh! And my hubby is obsessed with the beanbag game...I'm not so good at it!

I'm bummed that H2 wasn't great - they need to chill out with the Halloween movies - can't they just re-release the originals or something? :) I may have to check out District 9 as well!

I'm glad you had a good labor day weekend and I hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday!! :)

Hi Jules! Sounds like a great weekend! I'm glad you were able to relax and have fun too! I also was surprised that I liked District 9 as much as I did. The bf really wanted to see it so I reluctantly went, but I ended up enjoying it more than he did. Well, I hope you have a great week - it's a short work week so that's something to smile about :) xoxo

I am so glad you enjoyed District 9!!! I think it was definitely one of my favorites this summer. I heard Halloween 2 sucked but now that I've seen your review I won't be going. Have a fabulous short week!!! XOXO

You always do so much on weekends! Every one seems to like district 9. I made the hubs see it without me. lol. I have no interest in seeing H2 but you just made it so that I will never see it on video either! lol. Thanks for letting me know!

Sounds like a fab weekend! Question. Would District 9 make me sick if I have motion sickness issues? I've heard about people getting sick from it and wasn't sure if it was because of that or because it was gory.

I thought District 9 was also pretty good for a sci-fi movie, whie I normally don't just love. BTW, I found your cute blog from Mrs. EyeCanSee!

I must be in the minority here because I was SO not a fan of District 9!! But according to you and these comments, it was great. We actually even walked out, and I never do that--if I pay for I'll watch it, sort of thing. People are saying we should have stayed, but we gave it a good hour.

What was it about in the end? Like, should we have stayed? Everyone is saying it was the best movie of the year!! I just thought it played on the whole apartheid thing in an obvious way, with weird graphics.

I must be missing something lol. But I'm glad you liked it! :)
