Weekend recap

Nothing too exciting happened this weekend. I worked late Friday off and on until about 11pm. It was not my idea of the perfect Friday to say the least. Geof went to a Phillies game with our friend Dan and my mom came over and kept me company. My mom and I decided to watch a movie and ended up watching The Women. It wasn’t what I expected, which turned out to be a good thing. I loved Meg Ryan and Annette Bening’s characters in the movie. Eva Mendes was evil! Overall, I thought it was a good movie and made for a nice night in.

Saturday, Geof and I went out to get my mom’s Mother’s Day gift and to look at some houses. Right now we’re on the fence about putting our home on the market. Mortgage rates are so low and we have put a lot into our house, so we think we can make some money on it even though we’ve only been there 2 years. We’re not rushing into anything and since my mom works in real estate, she is helping us look and figure out what we’re going to do. I’m just trying to take it easy and not get stressed about the idea of moving if this is the direction we decide to go in. Moving is at the top of my list of things I cannot stand.

The problem is that I love our house. It isn’t big, but it’s perfect for us at this stage in our lives. We have an association that we pay fees to for the lawn to get cut, trash to be taken out. etc. The long and short of it is that the man that runs the association has been fooling with our fees (and all of our neighbors) and it seems that no matter what we do, we can’t vote him out of his position. The community has even taken him to court. We along with our neighbors are making one last attempt to work things out. We have a meeting scheduled and we’ll see what happens. If he refuses to cooperate, I don’t think we have any choice but to go. I see the community going downhill and I don’t want our property to lose value.

After looking at houses, Geof and I went out to dinner by our favorite movie theater. We went to a place called The Winner’s Circle and it’s your typical sports bar, but they do have some creative things on the menu. For instance, they have a burger that is sandwiched in between a glazed doughnut with different toppings. They also have a double burger with an Angus beef hotdog in the middle of the beef patties. I don’t know what the burgers are called, but they should be named a Cardiologist special! I stuck with a chicken wrap and it was tasty. After dinner, we went and saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Hugh Jackman was amazing and it was a great movie. I loved the action and special effects. I’ve seen all of the X-Men movies, so it was kind of fun seeing where Wolverine came from. You also can’t go wrong when Hugh Jackman, Taylor Kitsch and Ryan Reynolds are all in the same movie together :) We got home in time to see Saturday Night Live and Justin Timberlake did it again. I think he is very funny and loved the “Mother Lover” skit.

Sunday was Mother’s Day and we took my mom out to celebrate. She deserved a day to relax and be treated. We went out lunch to avoid the rush and spent most of the afternoon together. Once Geof and I got home, I was beat and took a nap. He said he kept trying to wake me up, but I didn’t get up until around 7. We caught up on some TV and called it a night.

What did everyone else do this weekend?

I really loved Meg Ryan in The Women. The scene with the stick of butter, the cocoa, and sugar was SO funny! I am way excited to see Wolverine and I am so glad you liked it!

It sounds like you had a good weekend. You are so lucky to have your mom in Real Estate and close to you too. You're right, moving does suck. I hope you get to stay right where you're at and get things worked out with that guy or get rid of him. I'm sure that is so stressful.

I wasn't impressed with The Women but it was ok.
I want to see Wolverine but hubby isn't interested. Shocking considering he's a big comic book fan. I might have to go it alone!
I saw MotherLover on Sunday. Too funny!

I still want to see The Women!! And I haven't seen any of the X-men ones, I may have to check it out with the hubby!!

Good luck on the house hunting, it's so hard to know when to put your house up for sale and when to start really trying to find a new place. I hate moving too!!

So nice that you got to hang out with your Mom, I did too and it really made the weekend nice. AND exhausting!! I wish we had been done early enough to take a nap too - lol!! :)

Justin Timberlake was so hilarious on SNL! I love when he hosts or makes appearances. The "Mother Lover" song was too funny...and I loved him in the implant costume!

And good luck with the house decision! Moving is one of my least favorite things as well. I hope it all works out for the best!
